PetrSU students and teachers at the conference “STEM Territory”

The IV scientific-practical conference for teachers “STEM Territory” was held in the online format.

This year, the theme of the conference was the training of the engineers of the future in a partnership between education, science and business. Students of the Institute of Mathematics and Information Technologies of the “Pedagogical Education” direction took part in the 4th track of the conference dedicated to the advanced pedagogical practices of the “Stamford” project.

The STEM Territory conference is an open platform for discussing modern practices in organizing the science education of schoolchildren with the involvement of the potential of science and modern high-tech business. The conference was organized by the Fund for Infrastructure and Educational Programs. The RUSNANO group, eNano, the Stamford project and a wide range of partners: NRU MIET, MGPU, etc. The conference was held with the wide participation of teachers and heads of educational organizations, institutions of additional education, children’s technology parks, quantoriums, TsMITs, as well as various educational projects and initiatives in the field natural science education of schoolchildren.

One of the speakers of the 4th track of the conference “Advanced Pedagogical Practices: Stamford and Partners” was the teacher of informatics and the head of the IMC MOU “Lyceum No. 40” in Petrozavodsk Alekseeva Raisa Leonidovna. Lyceum No. 40 is a long-standing partner of the Stamford project; schoolchildren of the Lyceum actively use the resources of the educational platform in project and research activities, in computer science lessons and other subjects of the natural sciences.

R.L. Alekseeva at the conference shared her experience of using educational resources of the “Stamford” project in computer science lessons. PetrSU associate professor E.V. was also invited to participate in the conference as listeners. Filimonova and 4th year students of the direction “Pedagogical Education” of the profiles “Mathematics and Informatics” and “Physics and Informatics”.

The students got acquainted with the advanced pedagogical experience, additional interest of the students was aroused by the reports of S.V. Ershov “Application of the resources of the” Stamford “project in design and research activities”; M.V. Bragina “Implementation of the activities of the project” Stamford “in the lessons of” Individual project “” and the unique experience of involving schoolchildren in real high-tech scientific projects of the world level, presented by the head of the laboratory, a teacher at NRU MIET, leading designer of JSC “Plant Proton” BA Loginov in the report “Participation of schoolchildren in advanced scientific and engineering works: successful educational solutions”.

The participation of teachers and students of PetrSU in the conference was carried out with the active cooperation of teachers of the Department of Theory and Methods of Teaching Mathematics and ICT in Education with Lyceum No. 40 in Petrozavodsk within the framework of the base department.
