PetrSU students are prize winners of the Northwestern Federal District Swimming Championship

Alexander Toropov (IIPSN) and Arkady Dorofeev (IFKSiT) became prize-winners of the swimming championship of the North-West Federal District.

From 23 to 26 February in Kaliningrad took place the Championship and Championship of the North-Western Federal District in swimming (swimming pool 50 m). The competition was attended by 246 athletes from 9 constituent entities of the Russian Federation. Among the participants there are 3 international class masters of sports, 27 Russian masters of sports, 120 candidates for master of sports and 96 athletes of the first sports category.

The team of the Republic of Karelia was represented by 22 athletes from the cities of Kondopoga, Kostomuksha, Petrozavodsk and Suoyarvi (2 masters of sports, 9 candidates for masters of sports and 11 first-class athletes).

T When the bronze medal in the piggy bank of Kazakhstan team brought Alexander Toropov, a student at the Institute of History, Political and Social Sciences, and one silver medal – Arkady Dorofeev, a student of the Institute of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism. The students are pupils of the secondary school № 3 in Petrozavodsk.

Awarding of the winners and prize-winners of the tournament was conducted by the legendary athlete, four-time Olympic champion, multiple world record holder Vladimir Salnikov.
