Within the framework of the “Books of Great Teachers” project, PetrSU students visited the National Library of the Republic of Karelia.
2nd year students of the Institute of Forestry, Mining and Construction Sciences and the Institute of Ecology, Biology and Agricultural Technologies, studying in the direction of training “Pedagogical Education”, together with their teacher E.O. Burachevskaya, Associate Professor of the Department of Psychology, visited the National Library of the Republic of Karelia. The students were met by the leading librarian of the service department Ksenia Aleksandrovna Mikhailova.

Within the framework of the “Books of Great Teachers” project, students were told about two outstanding scientists: Daniil Borisovich Elkonin and Vasily Vasilyevich Davydov, who are the founders of developmental education in the primary education system in our country.

Students learned about interesting, little-known facts of the biography of scientists, their scientific path, were able to see unique textbooks of the 50-60s of the XX century. The film “Twice, two is equal to X”, which was filmed in 1969 at the Kharkov television studio on the basis of a psychological and pedagogical experiment on developing education, aroused genuine interest among future teachers.

The meeting of students with a specialist of the National Library took place in the premises of the Karelian Center of Nicholas Roerich, where the children could admire the magnificent exposition of the exhibition “Holy Russia in the Works of Nicholas Roerich”.
