PetrSU students were told about innovative flower cultivation
Students of the Department of Animal Science, Fish Farming, Agronomy and Land Management of IBEAT PetrSU visited one of the leading Russian enterprises in the field of innovative flower cultivation, JSC “New Holland”, which is located in the town of Syasstroy, Leningrad Region.
At present, the company’s products are more than 20 varieties of roses, which are delivered year-round to the stores of our country. More than 27 million flowers are cut annually. A wonderful excursion for the students was conducted by the chief agronomist of the enterprise Novikov Ruslan Valentinovich and the head of the seedling department Krasilnikova Yulia Aleksandrovna.
The students visited various subdivisions of the greenhouse complex, having studied the technologies of automatic microclimate control, drip irrigation and artificial lighting. The students also learned how the optimal conditions for their growth are created for roses. In the warehouse department, the guys saw how the automatic sorting of flowers and packaging of bouquets takes place. The head of the warehouse service Mironova Olga Nikolaevna told about it.
In addition, as part of the excursion, a scientific and practical seminar “Application of modern methods of biological protection of flower crops in greenhouses” was held, at which the leading specialists of the enterprise shared with the audience the features of the plant protection system against diseases and pests used at the enterprise without the use of chemicals.
The seminar was also attended by the Chairman of the Board of Directors Alexey Konstantinovich Antipov, who spoke about the history of the establishment of the enterprise and the specifics of doing business, the general director Maria Anatolyevna Simanova made a presentation on the features of environmentally friendly technologies and conducting scientific research on the territory of the enterprise.
The head of the personnel department Elena Aleksandrovna Sukhova and the leading HR manager Elizaveta Vsevolodovna Velembovskaya drew the students’ attention to the working conditions of employees and the prospects for possible career growth, which significantly increases the prestige of the company and improves labor productivity.
Elena Nikolaevna Saksa, a leading specialist of the department of socio-economic development of the Committee for Economics and Investments from the administration of the Volkhovsky municipal district of the Leningrad region, introduced the programs to attract young specialists to the enterprises of the region.
From PetrSU, the meeting participants were Associate Professors of the Department of Animal Science, Fish Farming, Agronomy and Land Management L.A. Kuznetsova, E.V. Nikolaeva and O.A. Golubeva, as well as students of the direction of training “Agronomy”.
Students were able to consider the entire process of organizing production and evaluated it at a high level. They communicated directly with the head of the company JSC “New Holland” and asked questions. PetrSU students received an invitation to come for an internship (industrial practice) and the possibility of further employment.
