Phd submissions extended by Aligarh Muslim University

Aligarh: In line with the nation-wide lockdown to curb the community spread of COVID 19 (Coronavirus); Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor has directed all AMU students including foreign nationals to remain in their respective hostels and residences and to avoid travelling.

The Phd students, who have completed the maximum duration of their course (five years/six years with extension) after March 20, but are unable to submit their thesis due to the nation-wide lockdown, have been permitted to submit their thesis after the resumption of the normal functioning of the University. Their date of submission will be considered as March 21. The decision was approved by the Vice Chancellor on behalf of the Academic Council.

AMU Registrar, Mr Abdul Hamid (IPS) said the essential services staff required for the functioning of the residential halls, which still have 4, 500 students, including female students are supposed to bring their University identity cards for the issuance of curfew passes as it is important to run all the all the necessary facilities in the residential halls and other places in the University such as electricity, water supply, sanitation, gas agency, dining hall facilities and petrol pump.

The Registrar has also requested the heads of all the University departments and offices to direct the employees for closing down all electrical equipments in the departments and offices to avoid unforeseen contingencies due to short circuits and other reasons.

Meanwhile, AMU also announced that the University Petrol Pump will open from 8:00 am to 11: 00 am on all working days including Friday. The timings are to be followed till further orders.
