Plantation drive held under centenary celebrations

 

ALIGARH  : As part of its centenary celebrations, the Department of Botany, Aligarh Muslim University organized a massive plantation drive.

The chief guest, Prof. Kamal Singh Yadav, Dean, Faculty Agriculture, Raja Mahender Pratap Singh University, Aligarh stressed that non-cultivable land should be utilized to plant different species of plants so that the adverse effects of environmental hazard on city area could be minimized.

He appreciated the green cover on the AMU campus which significantly contributes in keeping the city environment clean.

Prof. M. Badruzzaman Siddiqui, Chairperson, Department of Botany, and Prof. Anwar Shahzad, In-Charge Botanical Garden of the department, Prof. Zaki Anwar Siddiqui, Member Incharge, Land and Garden, along with other faculty members and students planted more than 100 saplings of fruit trees in different orchards, maintained by the department.
