Plantation Drive to Promote Environmental Sustainability
Aligarh : In a display of environmental awareness and commitment to a greener future, a plantation drive was organized in front of Begum Azizun Nisan Hall and Lalzar Kothi near Purani Chungi, Aligarh Muslim University. This initiative brought together the dedicated staff members of the State Bank of India (SBI) and the Department of Land and Gardens under the umbrella of SBI’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity.
The chief guest of the event, Mr. Amit Nath Jha (Regional Manager, SBI, RBO 4, Aligarh), emphasized the significance of CSR activities in creating a greener and more sustainable environment. Such initiatives extend beyond immediate environmental impact and provide valuable educational experiences while actively contributing to reforestation efforts.
Special guest Prof. Mohd Mohsin Khan (Finance Officer, AMU, Aligarh) highlighted that the trees planted today will not only enhance air quality and provide shade but also leave a lasting legacy for future generations. The success of the plantation drive signifies the community’s dedication to environmental sustainability for greener and cleaner campus.
Prof. Zaki Anwar Siddiqui, Member-in-Charge, Land and Gardens AMU, expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming response to the plantation drive, emphasizing the heartwarming unity of purpose.
This event is part of SBI’s ongoing efforts to combat deforestation and promote sustainability in the region. The organization plans to continue such initiatives, aiming to involve an even broader segment of the community. Mr. Farrukh Shamim (Chief Manager, SBI, AMU Branch), Mr. Omar Peerzada (PRO, AMU) , Mrs. Leela Suman (Deputy Branch Manager, SBI, AMU Branch), Acting Provost and staff of Begum Azizun Nisa Hall, Mr. Shahabuddin Khan (Horticulturist Manager), and other Land and Gardens staff actively participated in the drive.
Dr. Tariq Aftab (Associate Member-in-Charge, Department of Land and Gardens) shared that over 1700 tree saplings will be planted during the weeklong CSR-driven plantation drive by SBI.
