Plantation Drive under Campaign ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ at AMU

 

Aligarh :  On the eve of Independence Day, Aligarh Muslim University organized a significant plantation drive under the campaign ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ – Project One Tree, aimed at restoring our planet’s green cover and ensuring a sustainable future. The drive, led by Prof. Zaki A Siddiqui, MIC Land and Garden, took place from 9 am to 11 am at six different locations in the AMU campus.

Prof. Zaki Anwar emphasized the importance of collective efforts in combating climate change, urging everyone to sow the seeds for a healthier world. The drive saw active participation from the Chairpersons of all departments, Deans of faculties, Provosts of residence halls, and Principals of AMU-run schools and Officials of AMU.

A total of 175 diverse plants were planted across the university, including 30 Bottle Palms in front of University Polytechnic, 30 Choresia around the Athletic Ground (S.N. Hall Road), 30 Alstonia along the roadside of Allama Iqbal Boarding House, and 25 Kusum trees roadside near S.N. Hall (Education Department side).

During the plantation drive the Registrar of AMU Mr. Mohammad Imran (IPS) stated this initiative reflects AMU’s commitment to environmental sustainability and enhancing the campus’s green infrastructure.
