Pledge-taking ceremony held on National Voters’ Day
ALIGARH : Various departments, schools and offices of the Aligarh Muslim University organized pledge taking ceremony to mark the 13th National Voters’ Day.
AMU Registrar, Mr Mohammad Imran (IPS) administered pledge to the staff of Administrative Block, “We, the citizens of India, having abiding faith in democracy, hereby pledge to uphold the democratic traditions of our country and the dignity of free, fair and peaceful elections, and to vote in every election fearlessly and without being influenced by considerations of religion, race, caste, community, language or any other inducement.”
At the Department of Linguistics, the Chairman, Prof M J Warsi administered an oath to the faculty members, students and non-teaching staff while Prof Gulfishan Khan, Chairperson, Department of History read out the pledge to strengthen and maintain the democratic traditions of the coutry.
Dr. Naila Rashid, Principal, Ahmadi School for the Visually Challenged led the oath at ASVC and Dr Mohd. Alamgir, Principal, AMU City Girls’ High School administered the oath for the teachers and staff at his school.
At Abdullah Hall, the Provost, Dr Ghazala Naheed administered the oath while at AMU Girls’ School, Javed Alam conducted voters’ pledge and Umra Zaheer, Superintendent, Abdullah School, led the pledge at her school.
