PM Modi stresses on documentation of Data Based Evidence to further promote Ayurveda; Virtually inaugurates three National Ayush Institutes from Goa
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated virtually three National Ayush Institutes in Goa this evening. The institutes are All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa, the National Institute of Unani Medicine (NIUM), Ghaziabad and the National Institute of Homeopathy (NIH), Delhi. Addressing the valedictory function of 9th World Ayurveda Congress (WAC) and Arogya Expo, he said these 3 institutions will give speed to AYUSH healthcare system. Pointing out that Yoga and Ayurveda are the new hope for the world, he said Ayurveda is not just about treatment, it also promotes wellness. The Prime Minister stressed the need for documentation of Data Based Evidence to further promote Ayurveda.
The event witnessed the active participation of more than 400 overseas delegates representing over 50 countries, international students and various other stakeholders of Ayurveda. The theme of this year’s edition of WAC is ‘Ayurveda for One Health’.
Later in the evening, Mr Modi will inaugurate the Mopa International Airport in Goa. The airport has been developed at a cost of around 2,870 crore rupees. The foundation stone of this airport was laid by the Prime Minister in November 2016. The airport has been built on the theme of sustainable infrastructure and has solar power plant, green buildings, and LED lights on the runway, among other such facilities.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Manohar International Airport in Mopa, North Goa this evening. Congratulating the Goans for the new airport the Prime Minister said that he would repay in return with interest the love and blessings given by the people of Goa by making development. The modern airport is part of that development, he added. He said, he is very happy that the airport is named after the beloved Chief Minister of Goans late Manohar Parrikar.
The resources that people needed were neglected in the previous few years. The demand for another airport in Goa has been pending for a long time. Surpassing many challenges Government did it, he said. 40 lakhs passengers will commute annually through the airport. The target is to increase this number to 3.5 crores in the near future. Modi said the airport would be of immense benefit to tourism in Goa.
Prime Minister Modi said there were only about 70 airports in the country earlier but our government is focused on connectivity in smaller places and about 72 new airports were built in the last eight years.
Union Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia and Chief Minister of Goa Dr Pramod Sawant also spoke on the occasion.
