PMI South Asia Successfully Hosts PMI® Common Ground Symposium 2020
Mumbai: Project Management Institute (PMI) South Asia recently hosted the PMI Common Ground Virtual Symposium 2020. The virtual symposium was a two-day professional development event, organized and hosted by Project Management Institute and the 11 chapters in the South Asia region (India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka).
The theme for the symposium was Creating New Realities, and the event featured stories of project successes, and inspiring journeys of individuals who arrived at out of the box solutions by adopting new work cultures, leveraging technology, cultivating teams, and serving as a catalyst for innovation because the situation demanded it. It also featured organizations that defied the odds, kept their teams motivated and met their goals. The event showcased how project professionals across the globe kept the wheels of The Project Economy churning through sheer determination and the will to succeed.

The notable keynote speakers at the symposium included Sunil Prashara, President and Chief Executive Officer, PMI, who delivered the opening address on its Powering The Project Economy™ initiative and the Future of Work; Kulweet Bawa, President and Managing Director, SAP Indian Subcontinent, who shared his insights on leadership in the new reality; Sridhar Vembu, Co-Founder and CEO, Zoho Corp, who shared his life experiences to highlight why we need to move away from ‘experiencing certainty’ to ‘embracing uncertainty’ while managing R&D projects; Vinay Piparsania, a global automotive industry veteran who shared his insights on the rapidly transforming e-mobility world; Caroline Das-Monfrais, Chief Strategy Officer, EMEA, FTI Consulting, who highlighted the importance of resilience while protecting value and creating opportunities in a disrupted world, and Nitu Kaushal, General Manager UK & I Hybrid Infrastructure Compute, IoT and Digital Services, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (UK, I, ME, SA) who spoke about the Present to the Future of Work.
Another key highlight of the symposium was the coming together of eight regional managing directors of Project Management Institute on one platform for the first time. Each leader shared unique stories of how their region was creating new realities and overcoming the challenges presented in unprecedented times.
The event brought together more than a thousand professionals from all walks of life, industries, nations, and generations with one common objective—to expand their horizons through inspiring stories, examples, and case studies.
