Politecnico di Milano: Honorary Doctorate Upon Carlo Vezzoli
The Federal University of Paranà (UFPR, Brasil) conferred Professor Carlo Vezzoli (Department of Design of the Politecnico di Milano) an Honorary Doctorate for its contribution to the advancement of knowledge in the field of Design for sustainability at an international level.
Carlo Vezzoli is a full professor at the Politecnico di Milano and for over 20 years he has been dealing with issues related to Design for sustainability. Today at the Politecnico he holds courses in Design for Environmental Sustainability and System Design for Sustainability, and he coordinates the research laboratory LeNSlab Polimi, focused on design and innovation for sustainability.
He is also the founder of Learning Network on Sustainability (LeNs), a worldwide network of over 150 universities founded in 2007 with the aim of helping to spread design for sustainability in an open access perspective.
The ceremony was held simultaneously at the Politecnico di Milano and at the UFPR, with the participation – among others – of the Rector of the UFPR, Ricardo Marcelo Fonseca and the vice-rector Graciela Ines Bolzon de Muniz, while Professor Vezzoli, the Dean of the School of Design Luisa Collina and the Head of the Department of Design Alessandro Deserti were connected from the Politecnico di Milano.
