Politecnico di Milano: POLITECNICO DI MILANO AMONG THE PARTNERS OF THE EU-FUNDED PROJECT

The Politecnico di Milano, together with Euricse, Fondazione Brodolini, Fondazione Italia Sociale, Politecnico di Torino and University of Bologna, is part of the consortium that has been awarded one of the 7 Social Innovation Competence Centres set up by the European Commission in the member countries. The Italian-led Competence Centre will see the participation of three other countries: Greece, Romania e Slovenia.

The Social Innovation Competence Centre will be the only one based in Italy and will manage an initial budget of 900,000 Euro; among the functions of the centre are capacity building of the main social innovation stakeholders, transnational knowledge transfer, creation of synergies with the European Social Fund (ESF), with a view to designing, supporting, monitoring and integrating innovative actions that could be extended and replicated with ESF funds. Finally, the Centre will have the task of implementing networking actions in order to create a real cooperation network with other selected Competence Centres, involving all the main players of social innovation in Italy.

The establishment of the Innovation Competence Centres is part of the EaSI (Employment and Social Innovation) programme, a European financial instrument which aims to promote a high level of sustainable and quality employment, to ensure adequate and decent social protection, to combat exclusion and poverty and to improve working conditions.
