PolyU observes 2023 New Year’s Day flag-raising ceremony
The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) today held a flag-raising ceremony on campus to welcome the New Year. PolyU’s Council Chairman Dr LAM Tai-fai, President Prof. Jin-Guang TENG, Deputy Council Chairman Dr Lawrence LI Kwok-chang, President Emeritus Prof. POON Chung-kwong, Honorary Court Chairman Dr Roy CHUNG Chi-ping, together with Council members, University Fellows, distinguished guests, staff, students and alumni attended the ceremony, wishing the Nation and Hong Kong prosperity and stability. The ceremony was performed by the newly established PolyU Student Flag-Raising Team.
At the start of the new year, Hong Kong is entering a new era of development, advancing from stability to prosperity. The University will fully harness its strengths in education, research and knowledge transfer to support the development of Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area into an international innovation and technology hub.

Dr Lam Tai-fai remarked, “At the start of the new year, Hong Kong is entering a new era of development, advancing from stability to prosperity. PolyU will render its full support to the HKSAR Government’s vision of ‘starting a new chapter for Hong Kong together’, and the Administration’s policy objectives on innovation and technology as well as talent. The University will fully harness its strengths in education, research and knowledge transfer to support the development of Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area into an international innovation and technology hub, and the goal of the National 14th Five-year Plan to turn our country into a global leader in cutting-edge science and technology.”
