Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile: 200 UC members recognized on Personnel Day 2021

200 professionals and administrators who turned 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45 years old were recognized and awarded in the UC Personnel Day, which due to the pandemic was celebrated remotely for the second consecutive year.

Broadcast through the official UC YouTube channel , the ceremony organized by the People’s Directorate was chaired by the Rector Ignacio Sánchez and was attended by the Economic Vice-Rector, Loreto Massanés, the People’s Director, Fernanda Vicuña and members of the Honorable Council Superior, as well as representatives of those who work at UC. Members of the UC community and also relatives of the recognized people followed the event online.

In his speech, the rector Sánchez highlighted the contribution and commitment of the people who work in the institution and who were recognized on this occasion. “If today our institution has collaborated on vaccines issues, if it is contributing strongly by delivering high-level graduates to the country, if our contribution in research is in all areas of science, humanities and art, in to a great extent they are due to the fact that we have people like the ones we are going to reward and recognize today ”, he pointed out.

“If today our institution has collaborated on vaccines issues, if it is contributing strongly by delivering high-level graduates to the country, largely because we have people like the ones we are going to reward and recognize today” – rector UC Ignacio Sanchez

This is how he emphasized the relevance of the sense of the common path, “a trajectory in which each and every one delivers their own capabilities and contributions to a joint project, the product of teamwork.” He added that “in these two years of pandemic we have become even more aware of the interrelation that we have to have with each other.”

He also appreciated the dedication of those who work as union leaders for work and the “fruitful and permanent dialogue” with the People’s Directorate, which have allowed for fruitful labor and community relations.

During the meeting, photos of the recognized people were shown and a video of those who completed 35, 40 and 45 years of service at UC was shown.

Prior to the celebrations, the Vice Grand Chancellor, Father Tomás Scherz, officiated a Mass on the occasion of Personnel Day 2021, in which he valued the often anonymous work and silence with which those who work at the institution contribute. “In this university community we capture the one who resembles the Lord and reminds us of him, and hopefully not only on this anniversary, in the corridors, in the offices, in perhaps the most anonymous, less known, less prestigious jobs for so many, and that makes me thank you, ”Father Scherz said. During the Eucharist he recognized Francisco Guerra, Cristián Galleguillos, José Palma, Pilar Rodríguez and Miguel Ángel Valdivia, who died in the last year.
