Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile: Dialogues Magazine celebrates 10 years with the launch of its new website
After a decade of sharing the research awarded from the Research and Creation Contest, and the doctoral thesis projects distinguished with the Cardenal Newman Prize, all organized by the UC Christian Pastoral and Culture Directorate , in conjunction with the Vice-rector’s Office for Research ; and opinion spaces in dialogue with faith and reason in printed format, the Dialogues Magazine opens up to the digital world with the launch of its own website, where it will gather all the content of its 15 editions and upcoming publications, in one place .
“Today we see that what we have been planning for a couple of years is coming true: that the Dialogues magazine reaches out to those who cannot access it in its printed version”, highlights Bernardita Aspillaga, editor of the Dialogues web magazine.
The new platform represents a transformation towards digital, which seeks to expand its reach and make the most of the resources and tools that the web offers, in order to enhance the content and its authors: academics, students and officials of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile . All this from the initiative to expand the aforementioned research contest to accommodate the research of academics and students from other universities in Chile, Latin America and the rest of the world, whose concerns put faith in dialogue with reason to make a contribution to society.

In addition, this web platform seeks to address contingency issues from a Christian and academic perspective that allows the teaching of the Church’s Magisterium to be boldly taught, to promote Christian culture and to communicate the pastoral initiatives of the University. It is also intended to be a tool that communicates the depth of the Gospel message and its compatibility with science, making reasonable use of modern methods to get heard.
“With the new website they will be able to find, through articles, the research work of academics and students, and testimonies of officials, who are now not only from UC, but also from other universities. This is a contribution for the magazine, but above all for society, which is where we want to reach and influence with our message, in a comprehensive and profound way ”, explained the web editor.
Dialogue, culture and research
The Dialogues Magazine was born in 2011 as a publication of scientific dissemination of the Pastoral UC, in which, through simple language, it makes known the initiatives that put faith in dialogue with reason and culture in the search for truth and the common good.
It is an evangelization tool for the academic world, which deepens the message of the gospel and its compatibility with science and culture, through research articles, reports and columns in which contingency is approached from a Christian perspective.
“We are in a social context that challenges us, that calls us to act. And with the magazine, in its printed and web version, we precisely want to be a meeting space where knowledge of reality is approached in its entirety, in order to be instruments of Christ, at the service of the university, the country and the Church ”, Bernadette Aspillaga pointed out.
This publication is biannual in nature and circulates internally by the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, but with its web version it aims to go out and reach a new audience, releasing content on a more regular basis.
