Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile: Miguel Nussbaum obtains international recognition for his contributions to the learning sciences

The ISLS Fellows title recognizes those who have made important contributions to the field of learning sciences, highlighting the academic quality of its members and their role as positive actors of change within society through their leadership and mentoring at the international level.

The professor and director of the UC Department of Computer Science , Miguel Nussbaum , was named as one of the fellows of the International Society of the Learning Sciences (ISLS) , cohort 2021 . This title recognizes those who have made important contributions to the field of learning sciences, highlighting the academic quality of its members and their role as positive actors of change within society through their leadership and mentoring at the international level.

The induction ceremony will take place virtually from June 7 to 11 within the framework of the ISLS Annual Meeting , an instance that brings together those interested in learning experiences in schools, homes, workplaces and communities that seek to understand how the Knowledge, tools, networks, and social structures enable collaboration and learning, and in which keynotes, symposia, workshops, panels, presentation sessions, and poster sessions are held.


Among the outstanding recognitions that Professor Nussbaum has received, in 2018 he obtained the UC School of Engineering Award in 2018 (in the photo), awarded for his great career as an academic. In the photo, with Dean Juan Carlos de la Llera.
Currently, the academic of the Department of Computer Science of the Faculty of Engineering of the UC, Miguel Nussbaum , has established himself as a counselor of the National Fund for Science and Technology , a member of the Education Committee for the Promotion of Scientific and Technological Development .

In addition, Nussbaum has stood out as president of examining commissions of the Higher Council of Education, member of the Undergraduate Committee of the Program for the Improvement of the Quality and Equity of Higher Education, member of the Advisory Committee of the Minister of Education of the ENLACES project, member of the Committee for the Development of Research and Higher Education in Latin America of UNESCO, winner of the Prize for Educational Innovation in the Americas of the Organization of American States (OAS) for 2004, was considered one of the 50 innovators of Chile for the 2007 and awarded as one of the 15 best teachers of the Catholic University in 2008.

Nussbaum has also been highlighted with other important recognitions, such as the 2012 Avonni Award for Innovation in Education , and the UC School of Engineering Award in 2018 , for his great academic career and recognition.
