Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile: UC students will participate in the Latin American Innovation Rally

Promoting innovation and creativity among university students is the main objective of the Latin American Innovation Rally . Ten Chilean universities will participate between October 1 and 2 of the contest, among which the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and the University of Santiago de Chile stand out in the collaboration of the organization of the event .

The competition will be held in virtual mode and will last 28 consecutive hours for those who participate. The goal is to drive innovation and thus foster the ability to solve problems in the face of real challenges. In the search for solutions, those who participate will have the opportunity to work in interdisciplinary teams, in two categories: social impact and innovation.

“It is our first time at this international event, we are happy that our students, together with those from other universities, can access this type of activity. This initiative highlights interdiscipline and promotes cooperation in order to contribute to local and global realities. As vice-rectory, we believe it is crucial to make international channels and initiatives available to our students that promote their comprehensive training and their relationship with university peers, both nationally and internationally, so that we can all contribute to global well-being ”, commented Maribel Flórez, Director of Global Training at the Assistant Vice-Rector for International Affairs of the Catholic University.

Meanwhile, the dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Santiago, Cristián Vargas Riquelme, highlighted that the academic unit has participated in the contest for four consecutive years and that it has become a great interdisciplinary and intercultural experience for those who have participated. . “For the Faculty of Engineering Usach it is essential to promote this type of activities, since it offers spaces for internationalization, innovation and entrepreneurship to our students, which respond to the needs of continuing to promote the development of their intercultural and innovation skills, also strengthening their graduate profiles as male and female engineers capable of facing the challenges of tomorrow ”, she stated.

Those who participate in the event must deliver their solutions through a text and a video. The Latin American Innovation Rally will have winners by venue, who will go on to compete at the national level and then be part of the last part of the competition that will take place at the Latin American level. The winners of this last stage will be announced 72 hours after the end of the event in each country.
