Poonch: MP Jugal Kishore reviews implementation of CSSs at DISHA meeting

Sets deadline for achieving various quantifiable targets

 

POONCH : Member Parliament, Jammu-Poonch Constituency, Jugal Kishore Sharma today chaired a meeting of District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee – DISHA to review the physical and financial achievements under the centrally sponsored schemes being implemented in the District Poonch.

District Development Council (DDC) Chairperson , Tazim Akhter and DDC Vice Chairperson, Ashfaq Ahmed were also present in the meeting.

At the outset, the Member Parliament reviewed and discussed the Action Taken Report on the decisions taken in the last meeting.

Deputy Commissioner, Inder Jeet gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the achievements and progress under different schemes and the status of the developmental projects being executed in the district by different agencies.

While giving details of the progress achieved under Jal Jeevan Mission, the Deputy Commissioner informed that as many as 128 retrofitting schemes costing Rs 479.88 Crore have been approved and tendered by the department and about 19436 households across 11 blocks of the district shall be covered this year.

The MP sought details of steps taken to tackle water shortage in Poonch Town and directed SE Hydraulics to explore the possibility of construction of a filtration plant andLift Scheme from Poonch River to provide clean drinking water to Poonch Township. He directed XEN JAL Shakti to sort out the issue raised by Member DISHA Committee Murti Sharma regarding the non-availability of water to some households near Kanuiyan Temple.

Regarding the PMGSY scheme, it was said that out of 171 sanctioned projects, the work on 143 stands completed and the rest are at different phases of execution.

While reviewing the measures being taken to ensure the uninterrupted power supply in the District, the Member Parliament directed the XEN JPDCL for early completion of pending works under B2V3.

Further, reviewing the working of PWD (R&B) department, he directed to complete the pending work of bridges sanctioned at Mendhar and Mandi. He also issued strict instructions to complete the EKLAVYA Model School and blacktopping of Betar Nalla Bridge in two days.

Reviewing the working of the Health and Medical Education Department, he directed the Chief Medical Officer to ensure that every household was covered under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme. He directed Additional Deputy Commissioner Poonch to do the needful at the earliest.

With regard to the District Youth Services and Sports Department, he directed the concerned to organise sports tournaments under Sansad Khel Spardha to involve maximum youth. The MP said that the sports events would encourage the youth to adopt a healthier lifestyle and help to channelize their energy in a positive direction.

Responding to the issue raised by DDC Chairperson regarding availability of Public Toilet Complex in Poonch town, instructions were issued to EO Municipality to make toilets functional in main markets and other important locations.

Furthermore, he directed EO Municipality Poonch to initiate a massive cleanliness and beautification drive in the town in view of the upcoming Shri Buddha Amarnath ji Yatra Poonch. He also had a discussion on the status of Solid Waste Management Project, Repair and Renovation of Community Halls and Multi Story Parking.

The Member Parliament, while responding to the demand of DDC Vice Chairperson for construction of the Tunnel between Poonch and Mendhar, assured to take up the demand with concerned authority.

He also reviewed the achievements of various schemes implemented by the PWD, PDD, Jal Shakti Department, Agriculture, Horticulture, Education, Social Welfare, Labor Department and Urban development department.

The MP asked the concerned officers to put in extra efforts for effective implementation of all the centrally sponsored schemes at ground level and to benefit the targeted sections. He also called for generating mass awareness about these schemes to enable the eligible people to avail the benefits. He asked the concerned departments to ensure judicious utilization of the funds and close monitoring of projects for their time bound completion.

The meeting was also attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Basharat Hussain, Assistant Commissioner Development, Abid Hussain Shah, CEO Tourism, Dr. Mohd. Tanveer, Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Shamim Bhatti, Chief Planning Officer, Madan Lal, Chief Agriculture Officer, Rakesh Kumar, Chief Horticulture Officer, SE Hydraulic, J.P Singh, DIO NIC, Narinder Singh, OC GREF, Vinod Dutta, and other concerned district, Executive Engineer of different departments, District Employment Officer, Rayees Iqbal, DYSSO, Mohd. Qasim besides other concerned officers/officials and Mukti Sharma and Abdul Hamid as members of DISHA Committee Poonch were present.
