Popular Education courses amongst Gig Delivery workers, says new survey by global Delivery firm Borzo
Mumbai : A recent report on Education level of Gig Delivery workers released by Borzo (erstwhile WeFast) a global same-day delivery platform titled ‘Understanding the Life of Gig Delivery Partners’ revealed that approx 94% of gig delivery workers are literate out of which 21.55% are 10th Pass, 38.8% of gig workers are 12th pass, 29.7% are graduates, 4% have a masters degree.
The gig economy has emerged as a game-changer in the world of work. Gig delivery workers play a prominent role in the economy ensuring seamless delivery of goods across categories for various tech-enabled businesses. India’s growing network of gig delivery workers, estimated to be around 7.7 million and increase to 23.5 million by 2029-30.
Bachelor of Commerce (Bcom), Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Science (BSc) are top 3 most popular graduation degrees pursued by the gig delivery partners. The survey also revealed that some of the gig workers are currently pursuing masters degrees such as Masters of Commerce (MCom), Masters of Arts (MA) and MBA. Courses such as Masters of Science (M.Sc) and Masters of Computer Application (MCA) also had takers.
It is interesting to note that Industrial Training Institute (ITI) by the Ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship has also seen participation in its courses from the gig delivery partners.
Other courses include Animation, B pharmacy, Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA), Bachelor of Mass Media (BMM), Mass communication as well as partners who are currently pursuing a course or have left the course mid-way.

- MA – Master of Arts 1.79%
- ITI courses – Industrial Training Institute (Ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship) 1.71%
- MCOM – Masters of Commerce 1.54%
- MBA – Masters of Business Administration 1.54%
Speaking about the survey and its significance, Mr. Eugene Panfilov, General Manager, Borzo, India shared, “India is known for its multiculturalism and rich diversity. India’s gig economy in the delivery profession has drastically changed with the entry and scale of multiple players. There is a need for deeper understanding of this profession that can help solve various pain points.”
