Positivity rate drops to 2.9%, recovery rate touches 90.77% in Ramban District
Ramban: Deputy Commissioner, Mussarat Islam today said that Ramban district has witnessed a sharp decrease in Covid cases with the positivity rate dropping to 2.9% against 9.9% in 3rd week of May.
The DC said that recovery rate in the district is 90.77% which is the result of strict enforcement of Covid safety protocols and other containment measures, including intensive testing and vaccination.
The DC informed that during 2nd surge total 3577 positive cases were reported in the district of which 3284 have recovered and discharged. He said presently there are 293 positive cases and the district has witnessed 39 covid deaths.
The DC said that in the current phase of vaccination more than 1.43 Lakh persons in the 18-44 years age group will be vaccinated in the district. He said that more than 2000 people have been vaccinated today.
It was informed that the district administration is fully prepared and has also geared up health functionaries for achieving 100% target in vaccination of 18-44 age group as sufficient doses of vaccine are available in the district.
The DC also exhorted upon the youths to take vaccination and encourage others for the same. He said that the Health Department well prepared to provide best health care to the people.
He informed that the rural COVID Isolation centres established in all 143 Panchayats have been provided medical supplies and 67 centres have also been provided Medical Oxygen Concentrators. For the rest the Oxygen Concentrators would be supplied by Jammu Kashmir Medical Supplies Corporation very soon. The DC urged Covid positive patients in rural areas who lack a separate room and toilet facility in their home to use these facilities to contain the spread of Covid infection. The DC said that sufficient Medical Oxygen Gas has been stocked in the district.
The DC said that taking strict action against the violation of Covid safety protocols in the district, the enforcement teams recovered Rs. 1.76 Lakh fine from the violators in the last two days and 15.5 Lakh since April 1, 2021.
He said that the Enforcement teams fined scores of violators for roaming without wearing face masks and not maintaining physical distance, especially at tourist spots of Patnitop, Sanasar and Dagantop etc.
Keeping in view the apprehension of resurgence of Covid infection, the District Administration has ordered the Enforcement teams to take strict action against violators.
Referring to relaxation in Covid restrictions in the district, the DC urged the people to avoid going to crowded places besides adhering to all necessary precautions like wearing masks and maintaining social distance to further contain spread of Coronavirus.
