POSTECH- Professor Namyoon Lee Wins the IEEE ComSoC Outstanding Young Professional Award

Professor Namyoon Lee of POSTECH’s Department of Electrical Engineering has won the Outstanding Young Professional Award from the Communications Society (ComSoc) of IEEE, the largest academic organization in electrical and electronic technology.

This award is awarded to young researchers who have contributed greatly to the field of telecommunications for 15 years after completing their undergraduate studies. The winners were announced at the IEEE GLOBECOM 2020 Rising Stars of ComSoc event. ComSoc is a leading academic society in telecommunications.

Professor Lee is currently serving as an editor of notable journals of IEEE ComSoc, including IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, IEEE Transactions on Communications, and IEEE Communications Letters, and for IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology of Vehicular Technology Society.

In addition, he has published about 110 papers on 4G/5G/6G multi-antenna transmission and reception technology and has about 40 domestic and international patents over the past 15 years. He remains actively engaged in research and has recently published a book on 5G/6G core technology and standard technology called 5G and Beyond: Fundamentals and Standards with Springer Publishing.

Meanwhile, Professor Lee is drawing attention in wireless communication theory and statistical signal processing and was selected as the winner of IEEE ComSoc Asia/Pacific Outstanding Young Researcher Award in 2016, which is awarded to researchers under the age of 35 with outstanding research achievements in the Asia-Pacific region.
