Principal Secretary, Department of Skill Development holds interaction with representatives of Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts

 

SRINAGAR : Principal Secretary, Department of Skill Development, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, today had an interactive session with representatives of Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH).

During the interaction, Dr Samoon emphasized introduction of new age technology for raw material finishing for the products of Jammu and Kashmir enabling the UT to compete in the highly competitive world of export. He deemed it necessary to forge linkages between various trainees in Technical institutions of J&K and Exporters.

“Impetus on Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) as one of the building blocks for ensuring highly skilled manpower is churned out of all technical institutions under the Department of Skill Development”, he maintained.

Heads of Craft Development Institute (CDI), ITI Srinagar besides Handicrafts and Handloom Department were directed to look into the possibility of signing a tripartite MoU for bringing in innovations for various products and artisans as well.

The meeting was also attended by Sudarshan Kumar, Director, Skill Development, Kuldip Sepolia, Additional Secretary, Skill Development, Abdul Majid, Joint Director, Handicrafts Kashmir and representatives of EPCH including Arshid Hussain Mir, Sidharth Tyagi and Adil Hussain.
