Private schools are integral part of education system: Himachal Pradesh Education Minister
Shimla: Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj held a video conference meeting from Shimla today with principals and management committee of private schools for redressal of issues being faced by private schools and education of students.
Education Minister said that the timely decision taken by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to check the spread of COVID-19 has provided guidance to maintain the education system. Likewise, under the able guidance of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur also the education of was not affected and education was being imparted through online classes, social media platform, academic courses on Doordarshan.
He said that the State Government was concerned about the welfare of all sections of the society and decisions would be taken considering welfare of all. He said that the safety of the children was of utmost importance, which makes decision of opening schools very important. Private schools are integral part of education system and standards of education in state has enhanced with their important contribution. He also assured the heads of the private schools that decision on genuine demands of the schools would be taken. He directed the Deputy Directors of Education Department to gather updated information of various government and private schools in their respective district.
Principal Secretary K.K. Pant said that the objective of the meeting was to find solution of the issues of private schools and take their suggestions. The state government would explore a balanced solution to the issues of the private schools and parents. He said the online education was an alternate option and not a permanent arrangement.
Earlier, Principals and management committee of private schools also apprised the Education Minister of the steps taken by them during the COVID-19 situation.
Chairman HP Education Board Dharamshala Dr. Suresh Kumar Soni conducted the proceeding of the meeting.
Secretary Board Akshay Sood, Director Elementary Education Dr. Amarjeet Sharma and Director Primary Education Rohit Jamwal were also present in the meeting.
