Prof Asim Siddiqui is the new MIC, Public Relations

ALIGARH : Prof Mohamad Asim Siddiqui, Department of English has been appointed as the member Incharge, Public Relations Office, till further orders.

Prof Asim Siddiqui, who is also the Chairman, Department of English, has teaching experience of more than 30 years and has served in various capacities during the long span of university services. He has been a member to the erstwhile Public Relations Committee.

He has published with OUP, CUP, Routledge (Taylor and Francis), Orient Blackswan, Bloomsbury and many other important publication houses. He was an editor and contributor of “Jahan-e-Syed” (2017) with Dr Rahat Abrar and “A History of Aligarh Muslim University” (2021) with Dr Rahat Abrar and Dr Faiza Abbasi, both published by the Times of India. His most recent book is a monograph on Shahryar (2021), published by Sahitya Akademi in the Makers of Indian Literature Series. He was a Fulbright Fellow at New York University in 2007.

Prof Asim Siddiqui regularly contributes research articles and book reviews to journals and books and he has been writing prolifically on art and culture for different newspapers, magazines and news portals, including The Guardianthe HinduHindustan TimesThe StatesmanRediff.com,  Scroll.inNDTVFrontlineIndia Today MagazineThe Book ReviewBiblio and many others.

He also translates from Urdu and Hindi into English and his translations have been published in several books and journals. He is the Managing Editor of the Urdu translation of Complete Works of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar (CWBA), a project of Dr Ambedkar Foundation, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. He has also successfully hosted a fortnightly webcast on English books on Urdu literature and language for Anjuman Taraqqi Urdu Hind.
