Prof B P Singh delivers keynote address on Nuclear Energy for Sustainable Development
Aligarh : Professor B P Singh, Department of Physics, Aligarh Muslim University, and the Chief Guest at the International Conference on “Frontiers in Pure and Applied Science (FPAS-2024)” hosted by Khandelwal College of Management, Science and Technology (KCMT), delivered a keynote address advocating for nuclear energy as a catalyst for Viksit Bharat (developed India) by 2047. He also chaired a technical session during the conference.
In his address, Prof Singh traced humanity’s journey through transitional stages and underscored the almost exponential growth in global population over the years. He shed light on the dire circumstances faced by millions without access to electricity or clean water, particularly in developing nations like India, and emphasized the urgent need for sustainable energy solutions.
Presenting staggering statistics on CO2 emissions and their impact on climate instability, Prof. Singh called for a paradigm shift away from traditional fossil fuel-based energy generation methods. He advocated for nuclear energy as a viable alternative, citing its unparalleled energy density and minimal environmental footprint.
He outlined India’s Three-Stage Nuclear Program as a comprehensive roadmap for sustainable energy production, leveraging indigenous resources and innovative technologies.
Prof Singh concluded by affirming nuclear energy as the cornerstone for enabling India’s transition into a developed nation by 2047.
