Prof. Muhammad Azhar, Department of West Asian and North African Studies, Aligarh Muslim University has been appointed as the Dean, Faculty of International Studies

ALIGARH  : Prof. Muhammad Azhar, Department of West Asian and North African Studies, Aligarh Muslim University has been appointed as the Dean, Faculty of International Studies, for a period of two years, with effect from July 7, 2023.

Prior to joining AMU in 2003, Prof Azhar worked as Reader at the Academy of Third World Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. He had started his teaching career as Research Associate at the Gulf Studies Programme, Centre of West Asian and African Studies, School of International Studies, Jawahar Lal Nehru University, New Delhi.

He has vast teaching experience and his areas of interest include energy economics, finance and trade, economic cooperation and research and methodology. He has contributed numerous research papers to peer reviewed journals of national and international significance.

He has authored two books including “Foreign Investment by Countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council” and “Contemporary Gulf Economies and Indo-Gulf Relations”.
