Aligarh: Prof Rahatullah Khan, Department of English, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) passed away after a cardiac arrest. His sudden demise is mourned by the faculty members, students and staff.
Extending condolences to the bereaved family of the deceased, AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor said: “I am very saddened to hear about Prof Rahatullah’s untimely demise. His family members are in my thoughts and prayers and my heart goes out to them in this time of sorrow.”
Prof Rahatullah Khan has been teaching at the Department of English since 1985. He authored two books and a monograph and published numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals.
He taught modern poetry, post-modern poetry, literary criticism and Indian English poetry among other topics. Twentieth-century poetry particularly Georgian poetry was his thrust area.
The deceased is survived by wife and daughter residing in the New Sir Syed Nagar area of Aligarh.
