Prof Satheesan appointed Chairman, Dept of Modern Indian Languages

ALIGARH : Prof T.N. Satheesan, Department of Modern Indian Languages, Aligarh Muslim University has been appointed Chairman of the concerned department for a period from March 2, 2024 to May 29, 2026, the date of his superannuation.

Prof Satheesan joined the Aligarh Muslim University as a lecturer of Malayalam in 1988 and became professor in 2006. He has served as the chairman of the Department of Modern Indian Languages twice before and worked as the Director, AMU Malappuram Centre, Kerala in 2016 and Member, Asan Prize Committee, Chennai.

He has earlier contributed as an expert in the survey team led by the Department of Linguistics, AMU on Korku language spoken in Harda District of Madhya Pradesh.

He has published seven books and more than 15 research articles in the journals of national andinternational repute, including Sahityalokam, Bhashaposhini, Malayalaa vimarsam, Vijnanakairali, etc.

He has served as a member on various organizations and committees, including the Linguistic Society of India, Indian Society of Buddhist Studies, Indian History Congress, etc.
