Prof Shamimul Hasnat’s demise mourned
ALIGARH : The faculty members and students at the Department of Law deeply mourned the sad demise of Prof. Syed Shamimul Hasnat Azmi, former Dean, Faculty of Law and former Chairman of the department, who passed away in Aligarh on October 4, 2024.
Addressing a condolence meeting held at the Department of Law, the Chairman, Prof MZM Nomani said that his passing away has created a void which would be hard to fill in near future.
He said Prof. Azmi was not only a distinguished scholar and educator but also a compassionate mentor who inspired countless students. His commitment to legal education and dedication to the principles of justice and equality were evident in his lectures and public discourse. He had an extraordinary ability to challenge his students intellectually while nurturing a sense of curiosity and critical thinking in them.
He said that Prof Azmi was known for his humility and kindness and believed in the potential of every individual. His contributions extended far beyond the walls of this institution and he remained to be a guiding light to the broader legal community.
Prof Nomani, on behalf of all the faculty members and students, extended condolences to Prof Azmi’s family, friends and those who were touched by his remarkable presence, and prayed for him a higher place in Jannah.
