Professor Ilyas Husain appointed as Pro Vice Chancellor of JMI

New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia(JMI) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar has appointed Professor Ilyas Husain as the Pro Vice Chancellor(PVC) of the university today.
Prof. Husain, an accomplished administrator and educationist with expertise in research methodology, distance education, financing of higher education, is a senior professor in the Faculty of Education of JMI.
Prof. Husain is also holding the post of Hony. Director of Jamia Schools. Earlier, he had served as the Dean of the Faculty of Education, JMI.
He is an alumnus of AMU and JMI and has a career of about three and a half decades in teaching and research.
His extensive experience in creation and design of successful student programme has been utilised by Algappa University (sponsored by Tamil Nadu government) to design International curriculum for B.Ed. and M.Ed. programmes.
He is comprehensively involved in conducting and guiding researches. He has produced 15 Ph.Ds in different areas including educational administration, teacher education, higher education, ICT and policy issues.
Prof. Ilyas has written several papers in national and international journals, written 5 books and edited 2 books. He has developed documents /tools for the assessment of teacher education institutions. He has been associated with various educational boards and advisory committees of different universities and bodies.
He has also contributed to Haryana Education plan and New Education Policy of MHRD.
