Promotion of academic mobility of PetrSU students

For humanitarian students to participate in academic mobility programs, apply for a grant or scholarship, it is important to learn how to competently write documents such as a resume and a cover letter.
As part of a case that simulates the situation of searching and applying for a research grant or for a scholarship to study at a foreign university, the staff of the Resource Center for Modern Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages I.E. Abramova and E.P. Shishmolina organized a remote instructing seminar for 1st year students of IIPSN and IFKSiT. It focused on the modern requirements for writing an effective resume and cover letter.

The participants of the seminar learned about the role played by the resume when submitting documents, got acquainted with the main types of this document; learned to structure information to present their advantages and achievements depending on where the document is presented.

The organizers paid special attention to the logic of writing the cover letter, and also focused on the problem of the choice of lexical means. During the seminar, the most successful samples of documents were demonstrated to the listeners, recommendations of foreign specialists on drawing up a resume and a cover letter were presented.

In the practical part of the seminar, participants had the opportunity to apply the knowledge gained and try their hand at writing a resume. The skills acquired by students at the seminar will help them in the future when applying for a scholarship at a foreign university.
