Public Hearing on Mineral Mining held at Kanipora, Balpora Shopian

 

SHOPIAN, : The Pollution Control Committee, Shopian today organised public hearing with District Development Council, (DDC) Vice-Chairman, Irfan Manhas in chair for eliciting opinions, viewpoints and suggestions of the locals and other stakeholders for environmental clearance of minor mineral mining project for Rambiara downstream at Kanipora Balpora Shopian, here.

Speaking on the occasion, Manhas said that the Government is committed to provide every possible help to the people facing various issues and problems having great expectations with the Govt.

He appealed to people to come forward and raise their issues to get them redressed at an earliest, saying that the Government is for the welfare of the general public.

DDC Member, Shopian, Raja Wahid and ADDC also threw light on the subject to make the common masses aware about the rules and regulations to be adopted in this behalf.

On the occasion, people were also advised to strictly follow all the SOPs including wearing of masks, maintaining social distancing and other guidelines in letter and spirit

The public hearing was for a minor mineral mining project spread over in block No’s 14 & 20 at Rambiara downstream of Kanipora Balpora Shopian.

The Environmental consultant representing the project proponent gave a detailed presentation on the project and made the audience aware about the benefits of scientific mining and environmental safeguards to be adopted in implementation of the project.

Among others DDC Member, Shopian, Raja Wahid, ADDC, Shopian, Mohammad Yousuf Mir, Divisional Officer, Pollution Control Committee, Shopian, Khurshid Ahmed Ganaie, Environmental Consultant, Zia-Ud-Din Hussain, District Mineral Officer, Shopian and other concerned officers of line departments, besides a large number of public participated in the said public hearing.
