PURE EV Startup launches Extended Warranty Policy for its Electric Vehicles

Hyderabad: Pioneering Electric Vehicle Startup PURE EV has launched another revolutionary initiative that is probably among the first-of-its-kind in the EV Sector. The IIT Hyderabad-Incubated Startup is now offering a new ‘Warranty Extension’ policy with retrospective benefit for existing customers.

PURE EV has been the only Indian Electric Vehicle two-wheeler company that is making net profits since its inception and is fully committed to re-invest its profits into further R&D of Batteries, motors and controllers, and after sales service activities related to improving the user experience.

The Key pointers of the Extended Warranty Policy include:

  • It covers key power-train components (Battery, Motor, and Controller) for all its current models

  • PURE EV has spent more than two years to evaluate and bring forward this policy that has been formulated on the basis of a data-driven approach

  • The data points assessed include on-ground product performance of these components over 40,000 KM for many of the PURE EV models and indeed in-house test data over last two years, customers and dealers’ feedback, and other related areas.

Elaborating about this system, Dr. Nishanth Dongari, Founder, PURE EV, and Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, IIT Hyderabad, “The entire EV components manufacturing ecosystem is at a nascent stage today in the country and PURE EV is working extensively for continuous improvements in the components design life and field reliability through our research center at IIT Hyderabad. We have a strong R&D team in the entire power train components related to battery, motor and controller who work closely with our manufacturing and service teams and evaluating feedbacks from various stakeholders. This announcement of extension in the warranty policy is done after strong data analytics and through extensive design improvements of these critical components.”

Further, Dr. Nishanth Dongari said, “One of the strong initiatives that the Company took last year was launch of Batrics Faraday, an AI-driven hardware which enables battery service failures resolution at dealers’ levels. This saves precious man-hours otherwise spent in replacement of series of cells and significantly reduces the battery ‘Turn Around Time’ (TAT).”

Speaking further about this policy Mr. Rohit Vadera, Chief Executive Officer of PURE EV said, “We are delighted to announce that this extended warranty policy will also be applicable on retrospective basis and all our existing customers can also avail of this policy. This increase in warranty time period is an outcome of our years of comprehensive feedback evaluation mechanism through our customers and various other stakeholders. While this warranty policy is backed financially through our strong balance sheet, emphasis on factory training of our dealers service technicians and extensive investments in after sales service infrastructure which is at par with the traditional ICE vehicles.”

PURE EV is utilizing its profits to enhance its customer experiences through service camps, free upgrades and better service infrastructure at all dealer outlets including the repairing capabilities, and adequate manpower training and other services.

PURE EV has already launched Four models that are available over 100 touch points across India with plans to expand further in the future. The company’s products are designed and manufactured in Hyderabad with a customer base in all major cities ranging from Srinagar to Tamil Nadu and Gujarat to West Bengal. The company has a current manufacturing capacity of 60,000 vehicles per year.

Extended warranty policies are only successful if dealer outlets are sustainable, and hence PURE EV has made it possible by providing the best margins in the industry, establishing service and repairing infrastructure at each outlet, and indeed training dealer technicians at the factory for 120 days.

Over the last year, PURE EV’s technology and skilled manpower have reached a point where they are able to repair as much as 99 percent of all the defective Batteries, motors and controllers at their factory, which has given the foundation to launch the extended warranty policy.

PURE EV has developed in-house expertise in Lithium Battery technology with highly efficient controllers and motors at IIT Hyderabad Research Park. Its R&D team has made continuous improvements through innovative solutions over the last 2 years and is confident about the average life cycle and sustainability of batteries, motors and controllers.
