Qirat Contest

Aligarh : Listeners were left mesmerised as school students recited chapters from the Holy Quran with beautiful prolongation, intonation and pronunciation in the online Qirat Competition of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Alumni Association of Jizan, Kingdom of Saudia Arabia.

Attending the programme as the Chief Guest, Prof Abdur Raheem Kidwai (Honorary Director, K A Nizami Centre for Quranic Studies, AMU) urged parents to encourage their children to read the Holy Quran and facilitate the implementation of Quranic principles in everyday life.

He was delivering the presidential address.

Dr Uzma Khatoon (Department of Islamic Studies) who painstakingly judged the competitors admitted that the high standards of the participants made the judgement task quite tough.

The Qirat contest participants from Class IV to Class VI recited Surah al Falaq, while students of Class VII and above recited Surat al Duha.
