Queen Mary University of London: Queen Mary invests in Humanities and Social Sciences with 25 new academic posts

The 25 appointments are permanent positions, with a focus in the first three years on research. The global search for applicants is underway and the successful candidates will be among the most exciting and talented minds in their areas of expertise, strengthening the already world-leading research environment at Queen Mary.

The Humanities and Social Sciences have been key to establishing Queen Mary’s global reputation. Law, Drama, English and History regularly appear in subject rankings of the top 50 universities in the world. Geography, Linguistics, and Drama have each been ranked first in previous research excellence exercises.

This investment follows the hugely successful 2019 recruitment of 16 lectureships/senior lectureships across the Faculty, which attracted the highest quality academics who are conducting truly impactful research at the University.

Education and research in the humanities and social sciences remain vital to helping us understand and improve the world in which we live. This investment will enable us to build on our world-leading research strengths, developing capacity as well as new capabilities, especially in interdisciplinary research.

“We were overwhelmed with both the quantity and quality of applications we received from across the world when we ran a similar campaign in 2019. As a result, we have welcomed some incredible new colleagues across the Faculty, and I look forward to doing so again.”

The positions are open to all disciplines but are thematically targeted towards the following interdisciplinary themes:

Environment, sustainability and climate
Public humanities and public policy
Big data and digital humanities
Health and well-being
Equalities, inequalities and diversity
