Queen Mary University of London: Queen Mary opens new life science business incubation space in Whitechapel

BioEnterprises Innovation Centre (QMB), and located within QMB, the new space is divided into hot desk, co-working and individual offices to support early-stage start-up companies, as well to drive economic growth and enhance health outcomes in Tower Hamlets – England’s third most deprived local authority.

The site has been designed to help early-stage Digital Health, Med-Tech and AI companies to grow as part of an ambitious research and innovation agenda and in line with Queen Mary University of London’s 2030 Strategy, which aims to foster innovation and creativity.

Located just 30 minutes from City Airport, the new infrastructure offers 24/7 access and includes 70 desks, comprising nine offices of varying sizes and 15 hot-desks, and includes unlimited fast-fibre optic internet and Wi-Fi, meeting and event space, access to science equipment at Queen Mary, as well as plenty of breakout space.

Queen Mary was awarded £1.5 million to expand its life science incubation space in 2020 as part of a £20 million investment into 20 University Enterprise Zones (UEZs) by Research England, part of UK Research and Innovation.
