Queen’s University Belfast’s Chief Executives’ Club hosts ‘In Conversation with Dr Raja Al Gurg’
The Chief Executives’ Club at Queen’s University Belfast in partnership with Women in Business hosted ‘In Conversation with Dr Raja Al Gurg’ (13 March 2023).
Professor Donna Fitzsimons, Head of The School of Nursing and Midwifery at Queen’s University, welcomed guests to this lunchtime event in partnership with Women in Business group.
Presented by Roseann Kelly MBE, CEO of Women in Business, this event featured Dr Raja Al Gurg who was awarded an Honorary Doctorate at Queen’s University in 2018.
Al Gurg is a prominent business figure in the United Arab Emirates. With four decades of experience as a businesswoman in sectors as diverse as education and manufacturing, Raja has had hands-on experience with a wide variety of sectors in the corporate world. Roseann Kelly MBE discussed Al Gurg’s latest book titled: ‘The Power of Authenticity: Three Principles of Leadership Success’.
Dr Raja Al Gurg’s association with Queen’s University was embarked on when Al Gurg sought a prestige partner to establish a University of Medicine and Health Sciences in Dubai. In January 2015 an academic partnership services agreement was signed between Queen’s University Belfast and the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Services (MBRU).
In September 2016 the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Services (MBRU) enrolled its first undergraduate students. That pioneer cohort graduated in June last year. Building on this success, a second agreement was signed in 2018, this time to establish a College of Nursing and Midwifery.
Professor Donna Fitzsimons commented: “It’s a great honour to welcome our esteemed guest and friend, Dr Raja Al Gurg to Queen’s University to launch her latest book ‘The Power of Authenticity’.
“Queen’s University is extremely proud of its academic partnership with Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Services (MBRU), which would not have been possible without her vision.
“It was a privilege to welcome Al Gurg, who received an Honorary Doctorate in 2018 for her services to business and commerce, back to the University today to discuss her latest book with our event partners Women in Business.”
