Radboud University: NeurotechEU expands with Reykjavik University

Reykjavik University joins NeurotechEU, the European University of Brain and Technology, of which Radboud University is one of the founding partners and the coordinating university.

NeurotechEU facilitates the exchange of education, research and employment. This means that students can take lessons at all the institutions involved, not constrained by institutional capabilities and borders. They can thus gain international experience and benefit from the specific expertise of the various universities. For scientists, it will lead to the improvement of education they provide and to smoother cooperation in research.

In this way, the initiative trains new researchers and engineers at the highest possible level, with a background and network in several institutes. This improves Europe’s position in brain research and engineering, and provides well-educated people to tackle future problems in society.

Composition and growth of NeurotechEU
The founding partners of NeurotechEU are Radboud University, Miguel Hernández University of Elche (Spain), Karolinska Institutet (Sweden), University of Bonn (Germany), Boğaziçi University (Turkey), University of Oxford (United Kingdom), Iuliu Hațieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Romania) and University of Debrecen (Hungary). Earlier this month, it was announced that the University of Lille (France) is also joining NeurotechEU.

Reykjavik University (Iceland) has a wide range of expertise and facilities relevant to NeurotechEU, especially when it comes to neurorobotics, neuroinformatics and clinical neurotechnology.

President Ragnhildur Helgadóttir: “We are very excited to join NeurotechEU and work even closer with the participating universities. We firmly believe that this will strengthen both Reykjavik University and NeurotechEU. It is vitally important for small universities to cooperate with others when developing their course offerings, infrastructure, and research, but we also bring considerable strength, both technical and cross-disciplinary, to the table. I am truly delighted that our cooperation has reached this stage.”

Reykjavik University has been accepted by the NeurotechEU Board of Directors. The acceptance will be formalized by the end of this year.
