Radboud University Press Appoints New Member

Starting from 1 September 2023, Paul Bakker will be working for Radboud University Press. Alongside his work for Radboud University Press, he will continue to conduct research and supervise PhD candidates as Professor of History of Philosophy.

Radboud University Press publishes high-quality, freely accessible academic books and journals. Paul Bakker’s duties will include scientific guidance for publications.

In response to signals, the Executive Board commissioned an external independent investigation within the Faculty of Philosophy, Theology and Religious Studies in the summer of 2020. Paul Bakker, who was due to be appointed Dean at that Faculty as of 1 July 2020, withdrew from this position in light of the facts under investigation. Based on the outcome of the investigation, the Executive Board took measures, Paul Bakker was reprimanded for ‘inappropriate conduct’, and a culture audit was instituted. In the past months, in consultation with the Faculty and Paul Bakker, the Executive Board has discussed the future fulfilment of his duties as professor.

The Executive Board regrets the impact of this difficult period on all concerned. Together, we continue to learn about and work towards creating a safe environment for all our students and staff every day.

Paul Bakker is looking forward to starting work at Radboud University Press and the Executive Board wishes him success.
