Rajasthan CM Inaugurates State Games-2020 by Lighting the Torch
Jaipur: Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot on Thursday announced the launching of ‘State Games-2020’ at Sawai Man Singh Stadium and inaugurated the games by lighting the torch. It is to be mentioned that after Independence, it is for the first time in Rajasthan that State Games are being organised. The state games will continue till January 6 in which approximately 8,000 sportspersons and coaches from different parts of the State are taking part.
Addressing the inaugural function as chief guest Shri Gehlot told the sportspersons who had come from all districts of the State that the State government will not lag behind in developing infrastructure for the sports and to promote sports talents. All efforts would be done to encourage the sports culture in the State.
Chief Minister said that there is no dearth of talents in Rajasthan. He called upon the Industrial houses to come forward and adopt a game subsequently help in developing facilities for the game and preparing players at the international level.
Shri Gehlot congratulated Minister of the State for Sports and Youth Shri Ashok Chandna and organisers for organising the State Games for the first time in Rajasthan. He said a new generation of sportspersons will be ready and youth will be encouraged to take part in different games and sports through this event. State Games-2020 in a way will play a role of talent search platform.
Chief Minister called upon the youth present in the programme to carry the message of ‘Nirogi Rajasthan’ (Healthy Rajasthan) to door-to-door and villages so that people of the State remain healthy and free of diseases.
Speaker of Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Shri C. P. Joshi while presiding over the function expressed hope that new talents will get opportunity through State Games and these players will further earn a name for the State and the Country.
Minister of State for Sports Shri Ashok Chandna at the beginning of the function welcomed the guests and said that the State Government has taken many steps to encourage sportspersons.
At the inaugural function of State Games-2020, Arjun Awardees sportspersons and those who had glorified Rajasthan at domestic and international level were felicitated. Apart from this, Dronacharya Awardees coaches were also felicitated. The sportspersons who were felicitated include Arjun Awardees athlete Ram Singh Shekhawat, Deenaram, Gopal Saini, Krishna Punia, Jagseer Singh, Sundar Singh Gurjar, Archer Rajat Chauhan, Shooter Shagun Choudhary and Apoorvi Chandela, kabbadi player Pradeep Narwal, State’s famous cricketer Salim Duranni and others.
Chief Minister at the inaugural function felicitated famous tennis player Sania Mirza by draping her with shawl. At the inaugural programme, horse riders of 61 Cavalry displayed skill riding. Various teams did march past on the music of Rajasthan Police Band. Jaipur’s singer Ravindra Upadhyaya through his performance filled youth with enthusiasm. Famous Nagada player Nathulal Solanki and his team announced the starting of games by playing Nagada. Barmer’s folk artist Ugaram and his team performed Gair Dance.

Kalla, Agriculture Minister Shri Lalchand Kataria, Health Minister Dr. Raghu Sharma, Industry Minister Shri Parsadi Lal Meena, Tourism Minister Shri Vishvendra Singh, Transport Minister Shri Pratap Singh Khachariawas, Minority Affairs Minister Shri Saleh Mohammad, Minister of State for Education Shri Govind Singh Dotasara, Chief Whip Dr. Mahesh Joshi, Minister of State for Forest and Environment Shri Sukhram Vishnoi, Deputy Chief Whip Shri Mahendra Choudhary, MLAs and other public representatives, Principal Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Shri Bhaskar A. Sawant, sportspersons and other eminent people were present on this occasion.
