Rajouri admin focusing on speedy Covid vaccination, strict enforcement of Covid safe protocols: DC

Rajouri : The Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh K Shavan today said that the district administration has laid special focus on speedy Covid vaccination and strict enforcement of Covid safe protocols, especially after relaxation in restrictions.

Briefing the media regarding the current COVID19 situation in the district, the Deputy Commissioner said that the positivity rate has shown a steep decline from 10% to 2.8 percent as on today. “The decline in the positivity rate is a result of the active cooperation of the general public with the District Administration as they have followed all the necessary guidelines related to COVID19 issued by the Government from time to time” he said.

The Deputy Commissioner said that there are 136 containment zones in the district and concrete steps are being taken to ensure strict enforcement of Covid related restrictions in these zones in order to break the transmission chain.

“Fifty per cent shops in the markets are being opened on an odd-even basis and people are being constantly motivated to follow Covid appropriate behaviour while visiting the market”, the Deputy Commissioner added.

The Deputy Commissioner also urged upon the general public to take tests for COVID19 after every ten to twelve days to keep themselves and others safe from the infection.

Terming vaccination of CoronaVirus as fully safe and a life-saving procedure, the Deputy Commissioner said that rumour mongering related to it (COVID vaccine) is the biggest threat for society in present time.

“The COVID vaccine firstly protects us from getting infected and even if a vaccinated person gets infected, he has no chance of severe complications “, the Deputy Commissioner added.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that about 65 percent people above the age of forty five years have been vaccinated for the COVID19 and urged upon all the eligible beneficiaries to get themselves vaccinated at the earliest.

He said that the vaccination for the people in the age group of 18-44 years has also been started and concerted efforts are being made to cover the entire population .

“We are also ensuring strict enforcement of covid safe protocol and a fine amounting to Rs 9.60 lakh has also been imposed on persons found violating the guidelines”, the Deputy Commissioner informed.

The Deputy Commissioner also appreciated the medicos and Health workers for their tireless efforts in providing the necessary health care facilities to the common masses amid the pandemic, besides he also lauded the police department for the strict enforcement of the Covid related SOPs in the district.

He further informed that the district has one 1000 LPM capacity Oxygen Concentrator plant functional in GMC and the work on an additional oxygen concentrator plant of 750 LPM capacity is under progress. Presently there is no dearth of medical oxygen supply in the district,” the Deputy Commissioner said.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the NGOs, Volunteers and social organisations are doing a commendable job in mitigating the pandemic in the district and urged upon them to keep working with the same zeal to help the District Administration counter the pandemic in the district.
