Rajouri admin holding Panchayat level awareness programs on Forest Rights Act
RAJOURI : Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh Kumar Shavan who is also the chairman of District Level Forest Rights Act Committee (DLFRAC), on Thursday convened a meeting to review progress on implementation of Forest Rights Act, working of the Panchayat level and Sub-divisional level committees.
The meeting discussed in detail the measures to be taken up to dispose of the claims, ensure effective working of the Committees constituted under FRA, mapping of the forest areas and other issues.
The DC impressed upon the committee members to ensure thorough verification of the claims as per guidelines.
He directed Sub Divisional Level Committees to submit the claims received so far to DLCs after verification. He stressed on fixing a particular day for the district-level committee to decide the claims.
It is pertinent to mention here that PLCs/SDLCs have already been notified in the district which shall submit the claims to DLC in a time-bound manner after proper verification.
The meeting decided to organise special panchayat level awareness camps to educate the stakeholders about the Forest Rights Act.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned to conduct mapping of the forest areas in the district. He urged the officers to work with added zeal for effective implementation of FRA in the district .
The meeting also finalised the arrangements for district-level training under Forest Right Act to be held on the 28th of Sept.
