Rajouri District Administration felicitates girl students

Rajouri: The District Administration Rajouri today organized a special function to felicitate girl students to mark the International Day of the girl child.
This year theme for the International Day of Girl Child is ‘My Voice, Our Equal Future.’
The event was held under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh.
The Day is celebrated with the purpose to spread awareness among people about all the inequalities girls face in the society and to highlight the importance, power and potential of girls around the world.
It is also a day to throw light on girls’ needs and the particular problems they can face and drive efforts that meet these needs and fulfill their rights not benevolently for them but in partnership with them.
The DDC, in his address, called for sustained collaborative efforts to remove gender bias and encourage girls at all levels, fields for their systematic development. He informed that all the district and sectoral officers have been asked to percolate the benefits of schemes to the women folk as the first charge.
The DDC also appreciated the efforts of the entire team of the District level Centre for Women (MSK) for their spirited efforts to ensure the successful implementation of the BBBP campaign in the district. He said a brand ambassador shall be nominated in each Panchayat for better implementation of the BBBP campaign on ground level.
Nodal Officer BBBP, Bilal Rashid Mir, threw a detailed light on the importance of the day and said that the need of an hour is to come together to improve the lives and health of girls and girls themselves must be at the centre of that effort. He also stressed on the importance of promoting girls’ empowerment by providing proper education.
Women Welfare Officer, Dr. Anum Mirza apprised that the District level Centre for Women has taken a number of initiatives for women welfare amid COVID19 including the distribution of sanitary kits, stationery kits, Linen articles, ration kits among women and girls students. Moreover, the incentive in cash has also been provided to the affected women/girls for treatment during COVID19 under BBBP campaign.
On the occasion, the DDC also distributed school bags and stationery kits among the poor girl students.
