Ramban admin observes World Tuberculosis Day; DC urges people to strictly adhere to Covid SOPs
Ramban : Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam, today inaugurated an awareness progamme organized by the Health Department to sensitize the people about preventative measures and treatment of Tuberculosis disease on World Tuberculosis Day in District Hospital Ramban, here today.
Similar programmes were also held in other parts of the district.
The theme of World TB Day 2021 is ‘The Clock is Ticking’ – which conveys the sense that the world is running out of time to act on the commitments to end TB.
Chief Medical Officer, Ramban, Dr. Fareed Bhat, Dy. CMO, Dr. Iqbal Bhat, Medical Superintendent, DH, Ramban, Dr. Hameed besides several doctors and paramedical staff attended the function.
The DC said that ‘World Tuberculosis Day’ is observed on March 24 every year to raise public awareness about the devastating health, social and economic consequences of TB, and to step up efforts to end the global epidemic.
The DC cautioned people about the second wave of COVID-19 and urged them to adhere to SOPs of wearing face masks, washing hands and maintaining social distance. He said that District Ramban will enhance Covid testing, especially RT PCR, and also conduct random tests in schools, colleges, eating points and road-side vending areas so that the infection is detected and contained.
“I urge all public representatives to spread the message on Covid-containment measures to keep the deadly virus under control”, he added’.
In his address, the CMO said that the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the TB eradication programme and equitable access to prevention and care in line with WHO’s drive towards achieving Universal Health Coverage.
On the occasion, the Doctors delivered lectures on symptoms of T.B, importance of early detection, prevention, cure and precautions related to this calamitous disease.
