Ramban farmers flagged off for exposure visit to Himachal

Ramban : Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam today flagged off a group of progressive farmers to Palampur, Himachal Pradesh for four day exposure tour under ATMA scheme,.

The Agriculture Extension officer, K.K Koul and GCO, Sajad Ahmed Shan are accompanying the farmers.

Assistant Commissioner Development, Zameer Ahmed Rishu; CPO, Dr. Kasturi Lal; Chief Agriculture Officer, Farooq Ahmad Bhat and several other officers of Agriculture Department were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC informed that keeping in view huge potential of agro and horticulture based farming in district a group of 17 progressive farmers shall be familiarized with the benchmark technologies in agriculture sector in Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, (CSKHPKV) Palampur.

The DC said that for spotting the potential of innovative agriculture farming as a source of employment has grown and the government is working with farmers in adopting farming as a business option.

The tour would help the farmers in acquainting with latest technical know-how and best practices for increasing production besides helping them to interact with successful farmers who can provide them expert advice.

While interacting with touring farmers, the DC advised them to engage with full interest in the training sessions to be conducted by the resource persons and lectures by experts on different topics related to agriculture production.

CAO Ramban informed that during the programme the farmers will interact with the university experts at Palampur besides visiting National Bee Research Centre, Nagrota and tea gardens to learn know-how regarding the technological advances in agriculture in general and organic farming in particular.
