Ramban police hosts Shaheed Dhaler Singh volleyball tournament; Palli-B clinches title among 46 teams

 

RAMBAN : Police Department, Ramban organized Shaheed Dhaler Singh volleyball tournament at District Police Lines which witnessed the participation of 46 teams of four zones of the district.

In the final match, team Palli-B defeated team Gool in a neck to neck contest and clinched the title.

In the valedictory function, Senior Superintendent of Police, Ramban, PD Nitya was the chief guest, while Sunder Singh father of the Shaheed Dhaler Singh was the guest of honour.

Addl. SP, Rajni Sharma, Dy.SP Hqr. Rajinder Singh, Dy. SP DAR, Waqar Ahmed and several other dignitaries also attended the function

After paying tributes to Shaheed Dhaler Singh and other police martyrs, the SSP said that one such event is more precious than many other sports tourneys that will turn out to be inspiring for the budding players of the mountainous district.

The SSP said that the main aim of organizing this tournament is to nourish the sports talent and development of team spirit among the youth of the district. Ramban police have put sincere efforts to develop sports infrastructure to engage youth in sporting activities, he added.

While impressing upon the youth to keep away from drugs, the SSP said that Ramban is a very fertile place both in education and Sports. She also advised the youth to take part in the sports activities so that they can prove their mettle in state and national level sports.

Later, winner and runner-up teams were awarded with cash prizes of Rs 15000 and Rs 10000 respectively besides trophies, while Rs 5000 each were given to 3rd and 4th positions teams.
