Rangoli Making Competition held at GCW Udhampur to mark Diwali celebration
UDHAMPUR: To Mark the upcoming festival of lights Deepawali, the Department of Music in collaboration with NCC 1st J&K Battalion, Srinagar, Government College for Women(GCW) Udhampur today organised a Rangoli Making Competition in the College Campus.
Vice Principal, Prof. Kewel Kumar was the chief guest on the occasion.
The Chief Guest appreciated the Music Department for holding the contest in the institution. He said that such types of contests provide a platform to budding talent to channelize to hone their skills further.
Prof. Kewel urged the music department and NCC unit to organize more such programmes in the near future also.
As many as 32 Students from different departments of the College participated in the competitions in 8 different groups. The students created beautiful Rangoli patterns on various concepts like Om , Swastik , Peacock etc.
In the contest, Group A, (Vartika, Shriya Neena & Sonia) stood first. Group D (Shivali, Sonia, Rushi & Bali), Group B (Rashi, Anjali Meenakshi & Priya) secured 2nd and 3rd positions.
Besides two consolation prizes were also given to group F (Simran, Palvi, Sakshi & Nazima) and Group H (Vishakha, Priya Saher Sadaf & Swati).
Earlier, HOD Music, Associate Prof. Dr. Seema Sharma presented a formal welcome of the chief guest and other dignitaries. She gave a brief resume of the activities being carried out by the Music Department from time to time, especially on the eve of festivals and national functions etc.
Associate Professor Ashni Devi, Assistant Professor Sarika Mahajan and Assistant Professor Sumita Rao acted as judges. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Assistant Prof. Shallu Jasrotia and Assistant Professor Yash Kumar.
Among others, HOD Music, Dr. Seema Sharma, Assistant Prof(Dr.) Mool Raj, Assistant Professor, Tania Mahajan, Assistant Prof. Amit Kumar, Assistant Professor, Pooja Bharti Assistant Professor Mrs. Shallu Jasrotia, Assistant Prof. Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Assistant Prof. Yash Kumar, Lecturer(AA) Mukteshi Sharma, other senior faculty members, staff members and a large number of the students were also present on the occasion.
