Rashtriya Mahila Kisan Diwas observed at Udhampur
Udhampur: Like other parts of the country, today Rashtriya Mahila Kissan Diwas was celebrated here by felicitating progressive women farmers.
An impressive function was organized by Agriculture department, whereat Chief Planning officer, Udhampur, Rajeev Bhushan, was the chief guest, while Chief Agriculture Officer, Satish Bhagat, presided over the function attended by a large number of women farmers.
Agriculture Department gave away appreciation certificates to the progressive women farmers and field staff of Agriculture department.
Speaking on the occasion, the CPO said that the main objective of celebrating this diwas is to create awareness and to encourage the women farmers to take up different income generation activities in agriculture and allied sectors to enhance the economy of the nation. While highlighting the immense contribution of women in improving the agriculture and national economy, he said that they are the back bone of rural economy in the country. He appealed the women farmers to sustain farming and other allied activities and develop themselves up to the level of agri-entrepreneurs.
Lead Bank Manager Udhampur, Ramesh Raina; Cluster head J&K Bank, Rajesh Gupta; District Information Officer, Er Sajad Bashir Somberia also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the various government schemes for empowerment of women.
