Reading Shakespeare Together

On April 26, at the Department of German Philology and Scandinavian Studies of the Institute of Philology of PetrSU, a poetry evening was held on the Zoom platform for lovers of poetry, literature and language within the framework of the literary and language project “Reading Together”.
The teachers of the department and 1st, 3rd and 4th year students from different departments of the Institute of Philology – English, Swedish, Finnish and Applied Philology took part in the poetry evening. During the meeting, sonnets were sounded, as well as a monologue of Hamlet by the great English poet and playwright William Shakespeare. The sonnets were read not only in the original in English, but also in Swedish, Finnish and Russian. Iolanta Sukhotskaya, a third-year student of the Swedish department, also spoke about the translations of Shakespeare into Swedish.
